The production of mini-series based on a story of Andrey Lugovoy have been launched.
"The turncoats" is a spy-thriller set in the 90's about two national security officers Adrey Voronov (Igor Petrenko) and Aleksander Volkov (Kirill Pletnev) along with Boris Berezovsky (Sergey Burunov) and Badri Patarkatsishvily (Levan Mskhalidze)
Consultant Andrey Lugovoy, a member of State Duma of Federal Assembly, stated: "I chose a Russian company after being approached by foreign studios because I understood that none of them were able to tell this Russian story truthfully because of a different mentality. I've always been interested in becoming part of a creative process, and when producer Denis Frolov offered to share the memories of the events I was part of, I thought it was a good suggestion. However, I immediately told that I will not comment the London events and the polonium scandal, so the script writers presented their version of the story, based on my interviews and other articles in the press".
The premiere is planned for next year on NTV channel.
